PLAY-OFF TIME!

Our first Play-off game is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 20th 2008 @ 9:15 pm. This game will be at Leland Community Center where we went on our Championship run. A big plus playing here is that the court is a bit smaller, however lets not underestimate any opponent as we will be facing 2nd Place winners in the Leland Gym division. Contact Zo @ 301-741-0605 if you have any questions! Lets do this, everyone needs to play hard and don't forget to bring your heart!

Kenny is back!

I think it's safe to say our coach is back, big ups to that and he's putting us back on the right track. Substituting in his role was a great experience and helped me to understand the game a little better. Also, just to let everyone know if we win our last game we are in the playoffs. Let's do this!

Undefeated vs. Unstoppable

Unfortunately my camera has gone AWOL, but our game is more on point than ever! What a win against the team with the best record, undefeated; we were unstoppable! That game felt good and the win at the end felt even better. Big ups to all the players and the coaching staff. What a win, what a win!

Monday, December 10, 2007

1 word, DEFENSE!

The offense was on point for the most part but our defense didn't' help to put a stop to our opponents offense. It was a great game and it reminded me of last year when we lost our first and only game. It was also the first time we all had played together, so much talent we just didn't know how to use it all. After that we were like bread and butter and it paid-off with our championship win. Sometimes you have to lose in order to win! So I want everyone to stay encouraged because the best is yet to come!

Lets get ready for our next game before our double bye-week. The video will be posted most likely tomorrow along with the stats so check that! Watch that video, look at our mistakes...the video don't' lie.

JAMES WONG IS COACH!

Coach Kenny Wilson is out indefinitely for this season and will hopefully return next season. He had knee surgery and is working on recuperating as we speak. So hope all goes well for him during his time of recovery. James will not be playing so he will be the stand-in head coach. If you have any questions you can contact him @ 301-526-1368. Any if you're Anthony, don't call asking for PT, lol. Peace, Zo!

Bring your heart with you every game, because when you're tired and sweating it's going to determine whether you win or loose...and maybe even worst...if you get your heart taken!

Flashback Recap!

Since we're about to play the Old Dogs I dug up some old footage to see them in action and get a lil' feel for how they play. They may have a few new people but they play the same way. They love to pass to the open man and keep passing to throw off the D, so if we're on point it won't really work. Check out the video footage, like I said it's old footage and converting was a B, it doesn't look that great but check a bit of it out.

Flashback Recap Video:
Winter 2006 Game 7: Old Dogs vs. Good Hope Legends

I know we've been talking about defenses to play against these guys. I personally suggest that we run a full court man press against them the whole game, at least to see how it works, or maybe a full court press and then set up into a 3-2 or 2-3 pass half court and just keep throwing them off. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment so coach can see what he might want to work with. We got this, they're definitely good, but they're old, we have to run them!

FYI: Play-offs

P.S. I just confirmed that we are the 1st placed play-off seed in the Leland gym and we did indeed win our division. Pat Sullivan says, "Good luck this weekend." Also we will be getting Divisional Champion shirts to play in this Sunday. Since they will be delivered on Sunday, bring a scissors so we can get them sleeves off, lol. Congratulations once again! Our championship journey begins with our first play-off game this Sunday, July 29, 2007 @ 7:25 pm @ Leland Community Center. Lets do the dang thang, Yeah!

Monday, July 23, 2007

One More...

Just one more win away from a near flawless season before the postseason. Let's get that win! The post season will be filled with competition from the other gyms; including the only undefeated team, Hitsquad at the Longbranch gym. There are also a few others with little as one lost, so be ready and don't think it's just us. Soon enough we will know our rankings and I'll put up the play-off bracket to give everyone a heads up. Until then, practice hard and play well!

#1 Team beat by #1 Team!

How do you like that! I'm sure everyone was feeling great after that win! The domination of the boards really helped secure the win. Anyways, the video and stats are up, scroll down and relive all the action!

FYI #2: Fall Jerseys

I believe if your dress attire is organized, you feel organized, then most likely you will play organized. I was skimming through my new Eastbay and saw the same promotion on jerseys that was available during the summer. 2 reversible Mesh Tank Jerseys for only $19.99! I like that deal and if everyone is comfortable with that, that will be the dress code beginning this Fall '07.

The Jerseys will only be purchased from Eastbay while we will have arrangements for the lettering to be done at a cheaper price. Most likely the lettering will consist of: Team name on front, jersey number on back and front, and personalized names on the back. Depending on if people don't mind spending probably $5-10 bucks extra, the lettering will accommodate the reverse side as well. Just to give you an idea if jerseys and not shirts are our choice of uniform for the Fall '07, I'm predicting the total including registration fee to be somewhere around $75-95 per player. Again, there are many factors that still have to be account for; number of players, how much lettering, etc.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Zo or Kenny, peace!

FYI #1: Brand New, ADULT Men's FALL LEAGUE in effect!

As the GM of the team, I feel it is my obligation to notify everyone when certain matters regarding the team surface. I recently received an e-mail a couple days ago from the head of the Montgomery County Recreational Sports Department, Pat Sullivan. He is basically informing us that after popular demand, for the first time, there will be an Adult Men's FALL Basketball League starting the first week of September. There is plenty of time to register but lets not play that, "I'm not sure game", "I don't know if I'll have time". Everyone is a man, so man up! Find out what you need to find out, and do what you need to do if you want to run. It's as simple as that. If you want to be committed, state that. If you don't want to, can't, maybe or whatever, do like they taught all of us when we we're little, just say NO. It's not that hard, no peer pressure.

Anyways, now that the bs is out the way...registration begins Monday, July 16, 2007 and will end Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Seems like and really is a lot of time, but lets be real and keep this as organized as possible. If you need to save up $60-90 bucks, do it now, just as if you want those Jordan's.

I apologize for the many side tracks and/or inconveniences to anyone through this update but I'm really trying to keep it real, nothing personal to anyone. All ideas are accepted, so please offer your opinions. I appreciate everyone who wants to have fun, be committed, and be on a winning team!

Just to let everyone know the last 3 teams we play have a combined record of 8-4. In order to make it to the playoffs, we need to win the last 3 games or we will most likely end up playing the same team we play on the July 8th (The Warriors) in the first round of the playoffs which are the Warriors.

Remember teamwork and hardwork is gonna get us where we want to be.

WHAT A WIN!

Big Ups to everyone! Every single person contributed to this win! What a game, but the real test lies ahead as we face maybe the best team hands down in this league, Warriors. Let's get ready! But until then, the stats & video are up, check'em out...scroll down.

Game 3's Great Finish!

Good job, and big ups to everyone for closing out this Game 3 victory!

We played the whole game and didn't give up and that's what made us victorious. We still have to put in work with practice so lets round it up this Thursday, June 21, 2007 for practice. Call COACH if you have and questions or concerns...and again, great game!

Unfortunately, I must inform everyone that stats will not be displayed due to the inconsistent footage of the video recording. We were able to get some decent footage which you can view from the regular video posting. I will try and make sure that doesn't happen again. Anyways, big ups to the ladies, Nikita and Lindsay for their contribution towards the recording of most of the game! Enjoy.

We lost Segun

Segun separated his shoulder and will be lost for the season. Our prayers go out to him.

This is crutial to our plans. It is really important that everyone show up to the games to play. I know we will have injuries, and vacations, and emergencies. Please make an effort to communicate for the team.

First Win

The team got our first win last night. We dominated the entire game. Everyone played hard and smart.

We only had 5 players show at the game. We need everyone to be there for the team. Our players were getting tired towards the end. If you can't make it to the game or if you are going to be late. Call myself or Zo to let us know.

Shirts!

I'm going to get the shirts with the numbering on it ready for game time Sunday. I only ask that everyone bring $10 to the game this Sunday to reimburse me. Thanks for the co-op. Kenny

Practice On again!!!

Disregard my previous post. Practice will be on. I will be getting there late. I got Segun to get there to open the gym for us. Yall can get there at like 9:15. I will try to be there by like 9:30-9:45. We can still get some work in.

Important Things to Know

On foul shoots, players will play the release of the ball (not when the ball hits the rim). A team must have at least 4 players to start the game.

Here is the official page to view the Rules and Regulations:

Adult Basketball League Rules

No Practice Today

There will be NO PRACTICE today. I have an important obligation that just came up, and I will not be able to open the gym tonight.

I do apologize, I will try to find another time maybe Saturday to get it in.

Uniforms

We need to pick a color for our jerseys/t-shits/uniforms. I suggest a color that will not be dupicated by other teams. It may have to be an "odd" color. LOL

Practice

We need to practice. Nothing serious, but we should get together to get a chance to play with each other. I would also like to see everyone's game. I don't plan on over coaching, but I will be making certain decisions like substitution patterns, etc. I would like to see what I have.

I will be opening Longwood Community Recreation Center in Olney this Thursday, May 31, 2007 from 9pm til about 1am. There will be some other folks there. It could be some good scrimmage time for us. Let me know if yall can make it. Call me 301-395-0845.
